I flesh, salt, pickle bath, and tan all hides the same. So far I
have had a couple of hides have hair slippage. Any suggestions on
what causes this and tips to correct. Maybe I missed something.

So you need to look at the process a little closer. Like how is the cape handled before you get it?
Is it kept warm or cold,Does it take you too long to get it skinned and salted? Is your ph balance
in your pickle bath correct? These are all factors you need to check
into. It may not be your fault depending on how it was handled before you got it.

Seems a lot of the newr taxidermt want to put skins thru freezing and thawing for 3 or 4 cycles. It take the hides a long time to freeze down in the inner areas of a hide rolled up maybe 3-5 days ot room temps while the outer area freezes. One freezing maybe two at most. Salt with a way for the body fluids to drain totally away from the hide, fluids contain bacteria that cuase slippage. Once salted pickle at a pH lower than 2.0. I feel it is these fisrt steps that are casuing trouble for you.
you all have give this southern boy some good tips to ponder on. This will cure my problem I hope. again thanks alot. I have herd that lysol will kill bacteria. What is your opinion on this.
Do not use lysol. They stopped putting phenol in Lysol many years ago. Buy some Basacryl or any other bacteriacide and use it anytime you are rehydrating. This will kill the bacteria and prevent hair loss.
Thanks
