I have been using wall tile adhesive available from all d.i.y stores, It gives plenty of time to adjust the position of the wings ect.and sets rock hard locking the feather roots in place.I find this method works wery well.

Clay

The only place on a bird I use clay is in the skull and eye sockets. I prefer critter clay. Although you can get good results form potters clay, there is less shrinkage (I believe anyway) with critter clay. Of course, it does cost more.
