Keeping the tail straight!

Submitted by SHAWN on 3/26/01. ( ) 142.165.70.19

I am working on a fox rug and I'm wondering how to keep the tail striaght out when it is hanging on the wall. Do most people just run wire threw the tail and then shape in any direction.Any suggestions!

Am I understanding that you want the tail of the rug to stick out from the wall when it is hung? Although I have never seen that done. you will have to wire the tail as you would when doing a lifesize. but the wire will have to be attached to the rug shell or something that can be mounted on the wall to keep it from falling over

I think Tenbears misunderstood.

The way I read this you just want to be able to put the rug on the wall in any position and not have the tail flop down. For wall rugs I usually put it on a thin piece of plywood or something sturdy enough to support the shape of the rug.

Put a hanger on it to keep it in position. Go to hobby or craft store and get the little rings used for key rings sew in works great

thumb tack

I generally just lift up the first layer of felt, and place a thumb tack so that when the felt is layed back down in place it covers the head of the tack. On a small rug the size of a fox generally only one tack is needed.
