Eddie: It may be late in the year, but you could consider talking to any friendly local taxidermist. They always think ahead and get extra capes from friends and customers in case they need them. In my case, I had hired a taxidermist for some fish and fox in the past so he was familiar with me as a customer/friend. I asked and he had an extra cape for me to practice on. But I wouldn't go in cold and expect a stranger to turn over free capes. You could consider the same thing with local butchers you may know. Your best bet may be to get capes next season from hunting friends of yours who would otherwise throw them out. Lastly, you could always consider fresh road kills where legal.
