The problem I've run into is I let two deer hides dry completely
on the salt table. After rehydrating the hides and after my tanning
process(Rhinehart soft tan), When the the hides were completely
dry on the manikins I've noticed some hair slippage. Is there a
way to stop this? What did I do wrong? I usually salt my hides
a couple day's and they have been fine.
Any help would be Greatly appreciated.

what did you use to rehydrate the capes and how long did you have them in the rehydration solution? what do you use in the pickle,what was the ph and how long did you have it in the pickle? it could have been a number of things including care of the skin prior to skinning.
check out "hair slip" with the search button.i don't think there's a subject that hasn't been covered here and there should be some posts that will give you some other ideas as to what may have caused this.

The hair slippage could have been a number of things. Did you flesh
it well and get plenty of salt on it? Was the hide handled corectly
in the field-spoilage? Don raises several good points that could account
for the slippage. The rehydrating-pickleing-tanning process must be
correctly done. There are lots of good methods out there. Good luck-Joe.
Well the way you posted your ? it sounds like you just used the softning oil,if so thats where you whent wrong you have to use rienharts cream tan before soft-oil.If you did use cream tan like they said it could be a # of things,but i would never put a hide in a pickle again with out leting it dry on the salt rack til it was rock HARD that definitly was not your problem!
