Brandon I'm not to sure on what your trying to do here but here goes.
For the tail I would and like to pluck each one and clean them. After their done I lay them done in a fan position and then hoy glue them into place. Take a wet spoon and smooth out the glue and press it into the quills. Flip it over and reglue the other side. Now all you have to do is take a screw with a washer on it and run it through the quills into your plauqe or wood hanger.
As for the wings I wuld skin them out like I was doing a flying mount, by making sure you cut the quills from the bone. Flesh them out and mount them as you would a flying bird. I hope this gives you some idea on it.
Brandon,
check the search...I think I typed in turkey tails and there was a neat post that describes how to handle the tail as well as spurs, I never really thought about doing turkey tails till my brother came up hunting this past weekend, then I checked it out. Pretty diverse and interesting solutions. Good Luck!
Frank, have you attached the wings to a fan/beard panel? If so, how do you get this to hang semi-flat to the wall? (Would you need to remove the radius & ulna?) Thanks. I assume the wings need to be flattened out in some way?
Brandon, I do a lot of turkey tails and the easiest way to do the wings is to remove the bones and replace them with a block of thin wood, this takes a little longer but it gives you something to fasten the skin to, and also a secure place to fasten them to the panel later, I also offer my customers the option of having just the spurs done or the whole feet. I am the only one in my area doing the feet and the customers really like it. Any questions just contact me and I'll be glad to help if I can Dave
