i am fairly inexperienced with my paasche airbrush and have mixed up my three needles. is the larger diameter needle for fine lines or the smaller of the three? it seems logical that the smaller needle would be used for fine lines but also that the larger needle would allow a smaller amount of paint to flow from the brush.please help.

each needle fits a corresponding tip.ie: #3 needle only fits a #3 tip. The smaller the needle and tip the smaller dot/line you can spray. All Paashe needles are marked, some with a number stamped, others with a ring around the non-business end, a #3 needle will have 3 rings around it etc. Most importantly you need to use the right size needle with the same sized tip. If this makes no sense email me or maybe someone else can describe it better......
Jesse,
Kristoph is right about the sizes and markings, but basically all 3 needles can produce fine lines. The #1 needle is used for inks and refined lacquers for painting extremely fine lines and details. The #3 is use for lacquer and acrylic/latex paint. Fine lines to larger areas can be covered with this tip. The #5 is for acrylic/latex and the refined epoxies used in glazing and gloss coats. Lines are medium to heavy and the tip is best used for large fish with lesser detail as well as coating sealers and epoxies.
