Airbrush. Badger or Aztec?

Submitted by Bob on 4/27/01. ( ) 152.163.189.132

Im a beginner who has been wanting to get an airbrush for quite some time now but just havent had the money cause that college tuition is just a little on the high side! But at a local craft store i can currently get all airbrushes at 50% off. They sell a few different models of only the Badgers and Aztec(i think Aztec was the name). I mostly want to use it for waterfowl (legs and bills) and also for a few cork decoys i got. My question is what model of these brands would you suggest for a beginner. By the way, i got 3 airbrushing videos from a friend to get me started.

thanks to all

what ever you want to try

here's the deal. everyone is going to give you a different answer. which is good but confusing because you want to make a good decision when you buy that brush. i've used all kinds of different brands and i like some things about all of them and i hate things about all of them. everyone is different in the way they use the airbrush and how skilled they can be with each different brand. for your first airbrush you should buy one that you can easily get parts for and one that feels good in your hand. this is probably the best advise i can give you. second of all i would consider the price. also ask about how much abuse each brand can take so you will know how easily you can break it. if i drop a pache on its nose ill bend the needle, on a badger i might not, etc. buy one and if you don't like it, then sell it and get a different one. i use different brands for different results. as far as the aztec goes, it's kind of a pain in the a-hole to clean the color cup unless you get the one piece cup. i do like how it sprays with thin mediums though.

i hope i helped, instead of confused

Bob....i agree with JT. Find a brush that you can get parts for easily. I personnally like the Iwata Eclipse, Pasche VL, and Badger 150. you should be able to get parts for these very easily. Check out my response under the DEER catagory. I gave a response for that individual as well. Just like JT said.........everybody will give you thier opinion.......this was mine! Good Luck...Study Hard!
