I have a bobcat that I recieved about 4 mo ago
that i skinned out and had no time to finish,
so I salted and put in the freezer.I just read
one of the forums that said not to salt and freeze.
This has me nervous, its a tropy cat (42pds)and
I would hate to screw it up.
I would like to use
Dp to mount it,but open to suggestions.
Thanks for any help!

to stop slipping. I learned that long time ago. Don't give the beasties a chance to slip hair behind cat's ears! I use Acid. Cat ears are like bear ears for me. No Dp,no cream tans only. So want i would do is unthaw and drop in acid 3 day, shave, tan with what you want, but tan! Or hope for the best. Gordon
The salt will not do anything while the skin is frozen. Make sure the skin is frozen since it's has salt on it.When i'm ready to mount the cat cat i'd thaw, salt, resalt and let it dry hard.Than when you're ready to mount, rehydrate and toss it in the pickle.Than you can shave and tan the skin.I wouldnt use dp on a cat! I always allow the skins to dry hard prior to doing anything.Bruce Rittel suggested that a long time ago and i've never had a problem with slippy skins since taking that advice. good luck
Salt actually keeps the skin from freezing. That's why you put salt on your steps in the winter. Beyond that I don't know. I would go to the mammals section and ask again.
