I have been mounting 3 pine martens and I noticed the difference in colors from a dark brown to a more reddish color.
Do male and female have different colors and also is the reddish color a fall one versus a brown winter coat? Can someone shed some light for me? I search the forum but could not find anything

Most mustelids (mink, weasels, and their kin) vary in color. This is nature's way of insuring survival. You are the guy with the skins, are all females one color and all males another? Might be interesting to find out.
