Okay, I'm using Hydomist paint and have a constant clogging problem. I've tried various pressure settings from 20-40psi, added retarder, cleaned my brush (paasche H-1). What is the best thinning agent for Hydromist, I know I cleaned my bottles with regular paint thinner and the paint residue turned into a gummy mess. Is acetone the way to go or would alcohol be better.thanks in advance for any help.

When all fails, read the directions.......it's a male thing....
I have never used Hydromist paints, and don't know what base they are, but I have never seen paint that didn't come with directions about clean up, solvents and thinners. If they are acrylic lacquers, you should acrlyic lacquer thinner, and not a distilled spirit paint thinner. If they are water based paint, several companies make an air brush additive that can solve some of the problems you mentioned. I am sure that someone here has used them, and that they can address the problems you mentioned more accurately than can I, but you might look for directions on the bottle or from the maker in the meantime.
Windex works well. Alcohol will do in a pinch to clean them also. In really hard cases Acetone does clean up the best. As far as the clogging, I've never been able to overcome it. I just keep a little cup of windex handy with a swab and a very short bristled artist's brush. Just clean the tip often. If anybody could tell me a way to avoid the clogs and tip drying, it would add years to my life, as this is my biggest headache! Good luck. ...Rick
HELLO KEN I have a pascha air brush and I know how you feel the I clean all my paint equipment is you have to use a laquer thinner the mineral spirits and weaker thinners will not penetrate the air brush paint it's expensive but it works.
I used to use thier lacquer based paints, but have since gone to PolyTranspar from WASCO. Another great choice would be the new Wildlife Colors, which are also water based. I believe WASCO is handling them too...Meanwhile, try straining your paints thru a screen or filter.
