standing turkey ?

I am about to mount my first turkey,a standing pose with a artificial head.I noticed from referance photo's on the back of the head down to the body that it get's wider as it goes down to the form.Should I fill the area behind the neck with cotton or will the feathers naturally lay that way? I'm afriad it would shrink if I did not fill it and I'd end up with a pencil neck bird. Also I made a rookie mistake and forgot to measure the neck.Is there a basic lenght of neck material I should use with an artificial head? It's about a two year old bird with an eight inch beard.Any help would be great.

Dave,
I haven't had to fill the area you speak of. If you think about it, why would you have to replace something that you didn't remove.
As for the neck, 11" is the average from the back of the skull to the breast.
A lot of what you fill or not fill might depend on the form used. I use Buckeye Mannikins forms and heads and rarely fill anything
except for the crop area, and if you think about it, that's the only area that you have extra stuff in it when you skin it out.
Good luck
