For someone just starting out painting reproductions as a hobby, what type of paint would be best. So far I have seen water based paints and Lacquer based paints both listed in each schedule. Is one better then the other or easier to use then the other. I would appreciate any help you might care to offer.
Thanks

Since they are easier to get to work, the FP series will do you just fine. They are more forgiving than the water base when used as a learning tool.
They are a bit friendlier. I use water base and lacquer combinations for the effects I choose. I believe that the water base paints have a much wider range of "effect" pigments than does lacquer, but then you can buy the pearlescents(mica) and boron silicate additives and mix your own lacquer colors. The waterbased paints have the advantage right now in the areas of experimentation and development, since the hazard warnings about lacquers have frightened a lot of customers away, leaving makers no choice but to take the Water Base ball and run with it. Each has it's strength and weakness. Water based paints are far cheaper to acquire and handle safely. It is up to you.
