First time turkey, doinga flying pose. I left the head on the skin, because I am not equipt with airbrush to paint. So I bought a prepainted head from Van Dykes. I seem very bright for the jake that it is going on. Is there any way to tune it down? I did purchase some paints with this order, can anyone help me with this?

I have used Van Dyke heads with the same problem. The colors really don't look natural. But have had good results using an airbrush with black paint to tone down the bright colors. A light coat over the entire head. If you don't have an airbrush you might have OK results with a can of spray paint. Use it at a distance very lightly until you get the shade you want.
If you just want to tone it down a little, I use white...just a dusting.
If you get too much, it will turn your red to pink, but if you're careful, you can get the desired effect without darkening the shade.
There's more than one way to skin a cat
If you want to tone down any color...you
have to mist it's complimentary color,
GREEN....transparent green that is....and
very lightly...
In my opinion, I would'nt use white or black..
both colors are dead by themselves...
also, get that double-action airbrush..Paasche sells
a kit cheap!
