Ear Canal Cartilage question

Beginner here! Doing my first coyote mount for competiton and am going to use competition earliners. I understand how to remove to ear cartilage, but how far down do I remove to and where do I cut off what I don't need. I just don't understand where to make the transition for real ear to earliner. Do I remove any of the inner ear of my skin and blend or do I remove all of the cartilage and form the skin aroung the earliner. I hope my question is clear enough. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks, Andy.

The more real skin you use the better

Andy, as a general rule the less you have to rebuild, the better. Keep as much as the inner ear skin as you can. Your guide will be what you can install into the ear liner correctly. Leave all you can and still keep the proper inner ear detail. Then blend the skin with the ear liner where you need to.
