Hey Guys,
I am working on my first Boars head, I had it cleaned by beetles and it looks great. I wanted to learn the process of whitening it myself. I ran down to the local beauty store and picked up some 20 developer. Dropped the head in and let it sit for 6 hrs or so. The head seems to be whitening but the teeth are black as tar! How do I get them clean? I used a dental tool to scrap some of the crap off but they are still very very black.
Also the skull has a faint odor to it, what should I do to get rid of it or should I not worry about after I spray a semi-gloss sealer on it?
Thanks...

Hello Dakrat,
Try some regular, drug-store variety peroxide. Soak the teeth in it for several days, but be sure to keep it in an airtight container. Also, use a container that won't allow light to enter. A small Cool Whip container or margarine tub will work.
If the teeth are still not white enough, try a fresh batch of peroxide for a few more days.
I don't know much about boars, but I have come across a few black bear skulls where the molars would not whiten no matter what I did. I suppose that can happen depending on the animal's diet.
Hope the peroxide helps though!
