I want to make an ashtray out of a bear's foot

Submitted by Tom on 8/24/01. ( ) 206.137.173.2

Could someone please point me in the right direction to find such a mold? I would really appreciate it. I dabble in taxidermy as a hobby and to supplement my income and I was told by another local(VA) taxidermist that this was possible. Not a smoker but my pop is and he would love a bear paw ashtray in his game room. Thanks!

Tom,
Go to Van Dykes (And just WHY doesn't Van Dykes have a hyperlink on here?)and look at their foot and ashtray fittings. If their form doesn't fit, stuff the toes with pottes clay and fill the ankle and lower leg with papier mache, Bondo,or clay, tuck the skin over and set the ashtray fitting into the top.

Thanks George! I think I am on the right track now, but I went to Van Dykes (http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com ?) and could find nothing about an ashtray fitting. I'm still looking and would appreciate ANY tips about this because I need this to be perfect! It's hard because I have this vision about how it HAS to look! Thanks again for the quick response!
