Trying to fix anothers mistake, coues deer mounted on a whitetail form I need to make the neck smaller.. Can I just sand down the form to right size and sew up do I need to rehydrate the cape.. What?

Coues is a whitetail, but are smaller because of the desert. I think its VAndykes that has some forms.
I know where to get new form but need help in rehydrating. and want to know if it will shrink back to size, it has been stretched to fit the whitetail form. ?can I just rehydrate the neck and body and sand down the form it's on or should I redo whole mount.
I just mounted a couple of Coues deer this summer. The forms I used were from MacKenzie, they fit perfect. Good Luck
