The directions are on the bottle. What I do is get as much of the meat and fat off the hide. Turn the ears, split lips and turn eyes. Then I salt it down. Let it drainn on an encline for one day. The next day shake off old salt and re salt. After the cape dries out, rehydrate in salt and water. 3# salt to 1 gal water. After rehy. shave down and apply liqu. tan. Roll cape up and set dry. Rehy. again this time with saltwater and kemal4. I also put a cap full of lysol, and your ready to mount. You get less shrinkage and your capr hair is soft. Good Luck!
on bottle or better yet, get a McKenzie catolog. It gives set by set dicections on using Liquid Tan.
You will first remove heavy meat and fat from the hide. Salt for 24 hrs, shake off and then resalt. Let the hide get rock hard. Then you will rehydrate hide in water with salt ( 1\2 pd to a gallon).
After you rehydrate the hide (it can take a couple of hours to overnight) place the a pickle for three days. (the pickle I choose is saftee-acid) then shave the hide. Place in the pickle for another 24 hours.
Take the hide out of the pickle let drain for about 15 min. Then I would neutralize it 4oz of sodium bicarbonate for another 15 min. Rinse twice in luke warm water and let drain.
Now after this is done you can paint on the liqua-tan. You have a couple of choices here.
1 you can let it sit for about 4-6 hours and mount.
2 let it dry out and rehydrate the hide at a later date to mount
3 you can freeze it and mount at a later date.
