Can a deer cape be dry salted as though is is being prepare for a acid pickle bath but later rehydrated and then use the dry preservative method of cape preparation?

you can do it that way, but remember if it is not fleashed before you salt it, it will be a little stiff, even after rehidrating. When you get ready to do it, just soak it real well, gettin most of the salt out of it again, then use the presurvitive. it will be fine.
