I'm fleshing an elk cape and the nose is being difficult. I'm having trouble removing the cartilage and not damaging the thin skin of the nostrile. Any suggestions are appreciated.

whenever i do my ears or noses i plit / seperate the cartilage all the way with out removing the cartilage....i then tan the skin and after it has been tan i then remove the cartilage....to be honest with you the only reason i do it that way is b-cuz thats how i was tought as a young lad and i have never had any difficulty utilizing this technique....dont know if this will help you as it is one of those things that is much easier to explain / comprehend if your there looking at it being done

a pair of surgical scissors, it may be easier for you. hope this helped,william
