I've never caped an elk in the field. Several people have told me different
ways to do it, but I would like to find a good article or something
that could explain the steps so I get a good cape.

wapity or elk are caped the same as deer only bigger. just make sure to leave more than you would ever think is needed for a shoulder mount add a little more before cutting and than it will only be a little short. good luck on your hunt, shoot straight. mark
