Fleshing machine

Submitted by Tyron M. on 10/15/01. ( ) 52.128.30.13

I've been mounting deer heads for about five years. I use the
mini-flesher as my primary fleshing tool. I'm thinking of buying a
"real " fleshing machine. Can anyone tell me approx. how much
time i will save vs. the mini-flesher? Also, how long does it normally
take to learn how to use a table fleshing machine? One last
question, would it be cost effective? I do between 30 to 50
heads a year. Thanks

Hi Tyron,

Check the article in Taxidermy Today's Sept. issue. It's what you should know on deciding to buy a flesher. If you can't find it send me an email.

Gerry

I think at that number of heads you could justify....

buying a full size fleshing machine. I do @ 20 heads a year and I just purchased one of Gerry Tessier's Quebec Lite machines and it was money well spent. Gerry will stand behind the machine and will go out of his way to help you with it, also. It also does a great job and is not hard to learn to use. Good luck.

TIME IS MONEY

dont know how long it takes you to fleash with that smaller thing, but I can do a deer skin in 35 minutes with the real thing. you can do it also, just takes a little time to get the feel for it. once you learn, you can also find that you can do many other animals on it also. Have actually fleashed a porcupine on mine! beaver tails, along with , fox's ,coons, just takes some practice, to get the feel of the blade. Any of you....fleash a elk in 2 1/2 hours? turning lips, ears and all? I can, get out there and get you that machine, you will be glad you did.
