Steve,
I will suggest Breakthrough Taxidermy Manuals from WASCO as well as videos of your choosing. You can do like a lot of us...teach yourself at your convenience. If you run into trouble, get on the forums and ask for help. I would never trade what I learned on my own for a taxidermy school. By the way...the closest taxidermy school I know of is Rinehart's in Janseville, Wisconsin.
GO QUAKERS(I am an Earlham graduate.)
Good luck...eh?
Doug
I WALKED INTO THIS SCHOOL GREEN 6 WEEKS AGO, ALONG WITH 7 OTHER GUYS,I FEEL THAT LIKE ME EVERYONE LEFT WITH THE KNOWLEDGE TO START OUR OWN BUSINESS. WITH TAXIDERMY.NET AND BREAKTHOUGH TAXIDERMY MANUALS I WILL BE RUNNING A SUCCSUFUL TAXIDERMY SHOP. I LIVE IN THE SOUTH WHERE THERE ARE PLENTY OF SHOPS AROUND,BUT I WILL STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE AND PLENTY OF HARD WORK AND PATIENCE TO MAKE MY STORE SUCCSFUL.THE SCHOOL I ATTENDED WAS CENTRAL TEXAS SCHOOL OF TAXIDERMY..AGAIN THANKS TO KELLY LEITISFIE FOR THE GOOD TIMES AND GREAT KNOWLEDGE. BY THE WAY I BROUGHT HOME 11 MOUNTS FROM CLASS + LOTS OF TOOLS NEEDED IN MY NEW SHOP...........LOTS OF KNOWLEDGE FOR A LITTLE BIT OF MONEY.......AND WHAT A GREAT BUSINESS!!
Hey I learned like Doug I bought books and videos. Its a real good way to learn. Some good advice is dont get a head like Bret and think your gona have a business right off the get go cause you will invest alot and find out its harder than what you think to hav a sucessful business. Iam not trying to turn you off to taxidermy just start slow and dont set your self up for failure. Good luck.
