Where to send Coyote hide

Submitted by Tony on 10/23/01. ( ) 216.68.15.135

I have a fresh Coyote hide. After it was skinned (but not fleshed) it was layed skin to skin and frozen. Should I thaw it out and salt it to dry it? Where can I send this hide to be tanned, hair on with a soft hide (so I can make a rug out of it)? Thanks guys/gals

Give either Joe or Eric a hollor. They will take good care of you. As for salting and drying the hide out I would do that first before sending it out.

I hear that east coast tannery messed up a lot of different specieson several different taxidermists. try golden state in turlock california fast friendly service, 209-668-1331. if east coast doesnt know what youare talking about ask about the large african shipment they ruined on the taxidermist in upstate n.y.

flesh It first

Before sending your hide to a tannery or before salting it, make sure you flesh all the meat and fat of and turn the ears eyes, nose, and lips. Be sure to salt it twice, once evey 24 hrs and then you can hang it until it is just pliable enough to roll up for shipping. As for a tannery - before you choose one, call and get customer references. I have used Lone Wolf Tannery and Hair Hide and Fur tannery, both do a good job.
