Hello,
I'm new to rug making and need to ask how to stretch a bear hide? Just unsure of myself and going through the trial and error phase of this adventure!
Thanks, Lance!

with the aid of an assitant stretch length wise as much as possible. If it's a dry tan I spritz the skin side with tepid [room temp] water until pretty well saturated. I use a table marked with 1" grids to ensure evenness. Once you've pulled your lenght sufficiently run a row of tacks, nailing them down the center spaced every 3 or 4 inches, then with one person on each side pull your width evenly and tack the edges. You'll have excess pleats in the arm pits you'll need to deal with, if you email me I'll go into it further.
