I have just tanned my first hide. It has a strong odor to it. I rubbed laundry soap into the hide as someone suggested, it helped but not enough. Any suggestions on how to get the odor out? It is a beaver hide.

Most likely the odor isn't the tanning, it's the preparation. Hides don't "smell" when properly prepped.
