modifying a form

I have recently done my first raccoon and the form that I got was not quite
what I had in mind for the mount. I havae changed the way it stands and
the way it is looking. I used glay to fill in the gaps and what I'm wondering
is should I cover the glay with something or will it be all right just to
leave it the way it is. Thanks very much for all the help.
P.S. I need it to be available to me in Canada.

I would use 9 or 10 guage wire just stuck though the form, and bondo will come with hardner, use this in all void areas! thats my personal peference!

Clay is fine

as long as your mounting it the same day. Clay can dry out and fall apart in some spots. I rather use a product called cut and carve. It's a paper mache found in many art stores. It seams to grap the foam nicely and you shape it later. If it's a really big gap I use 2 part foam. It fill the big voids nicely and you can reshape those mistakes with it.
