Actually this is the first anything Ive mounted.
The Bird is a goose, I have 7 skins to practice with.
Everything seems to be going fairly good(for a beginner),But
I'm having a problem with the pin feathers, they keep falling out.
Is this normal for pin feathers?
is there any way to stop them from falling out?
Thanks for the help

I would advise you to mount a different bird if you are losing a lot of pin feathers. My rule of thumb is if a bird is pinny I won't spend 5 minutes working on it. The only exception for me is if the bird is rare then I put more effort into it.
Find yourself a nice featherd bird later in the season and you will be a whole lot more succesful.
Hi Dave,
Pinfeathers fall out because they are very soft at the base and easily damaged. Nothing will totally stop it. A December goose is usually better if you can get one, but your early geese should be fine for practicing de-fatting and cleaning. Those two steps are probably about the worst part of mounting a goose anyway.
