Hi to all that read this as u can see iam from upstate ny about 1 hour west of albany in schoharie co. what i need help for is that i am all new to taxidermy and want to open my own shop. but i really dont know to much about the trade yet.What i was looking for help with was to see if any taxidermist near by might be willing to lend a helping hand. You want to open your shop, already? Are you a self starter? You have a lack if knowledge so I recommend joining your state taxidermy association to start, plenty of seminars there! Some of the best in the northeast doing them too.
Honestly it is not realiztic to ask a local taxidermist to show you thier methods for free, many have spemt years learning and perfecting them at great cost I do add. Start at the bottom and go one step at a time. Have your goals of a shop but be realistic of it being several years down the road.
How about getting some experience mounting a wide range of specimens first. that will take a couple of years

JOIN THE STATE ASSOC. THE COMPETITIONS ARE HELD IN SYRACUSE, THERE IS NO SHORTAGE OF PEOPLE THAT WILL BE MORE THAN WILLING TO HELP YOU WITH IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF YOUR WORK. ITS MORE THAN WORTH THE INVESTMENT. GOOD LUCK
