I am thinking about getting some taxidermy tools for my uncle. He has done some taxidermy, but I would say he is a beginner. I think the only "tool" he uses is a knife. Does anyone have any recommendations for a tool kit and were to get it? And is it better to buy the tools individually or to buy a kit that is already put together? Thanks.

Steve i started with a few tools from catalogs but most of my tools i had around the house. these include a flat and phillips screwdriver, dremel, tack hammer, glue gun, staple gun, hog syringe and some smaller syringes (from trips to the vet), paint brushes, glue melting pot (for finishing wax) windex (a must for cleaning eyes) small air compresser, air brush, cloth tape measurer, and other small things. I bought from catalogs ear openers, scaples, calipers, and mounting supplies (forms eyes and so on )and a Breakthrough manual! Most of the things listed in those books can be found around the house and if not you local craft shop or wal-mart can carry some of those things. As i went along a found that there was some thing i couldnt live without as i'm sure your uncle has . Happy Hunting
