Antelope horn odor

Submitted by Craig on 10/29/01. ( ) 64.12.96.201

I have seperated the horns from the cores and have washed the inside of the horns out with soap and water. There is an extremely foul smell coming from the horns. Do they need to be treated in some manner to kill this odor or does is go away in time. Thanks again for your help. By the way, the horns wrapped in a plastic bag for a week did the trick. They pulled off very easily.

or if DP is against your religion, fill the cases with Borax for about a week, then dump it out. The foul smell comes from the epidermal skin that surrounds the hair as it forms the "horn" of the goat. When dry, use a good epoxy to hold the cases on the cores. Bondo WILL break free...been there, done that...with a B&C head in front of the customer. Great public relations work that was.
