I was wanting to buy a Breakthrough Taxidermy Manual to help with mounting ducks, but I also have a pheasant I wanted to mount. I probably will not be mounting many pheasants but I would like to try my hand at the one in the freezer. Which manual- Bird Taxidermy or the Gamebird Taxidermy provides instruction for mounting pheasants from skinning to mounting. I would like to buy all of them, but for now can afford one.

If you can only afford one book, I would recommend "The Breakthrough Bird Taxidermy Manual". Although this book does not specifically demonstrate the mounting of a pheasant, the depth of information about bird taxidermy in general surpasses other more specialized books, and would probably be more beneficial to a beginner.
However, if you want a book with a step-by-step ringneck pheasant mounting procedure, you should get "Newmyer: Upland Game Bird Taxidermy". This book contains three different pheasant mounting procedures by Kent Reedy, Dan LaDue, and Frank Newmyer.
Good luck!
