Eye Repair

Submitted by bill on 10/5/01. ( ) 216.63.216.81

During the caping of a fallow deer, I accidently cut off part of the eye lid. The part that is right next to the eyeball and approx. one half inch long. How would this be replaced or repaired? I don't know whether to use a small piece of skin, or use sculpt all or all game.

Any suggestions? Any other tips on fallow? Thanks for your help.

Use epoxy

You will want to use a good epoxy like epo-grip and place and pin the piece back in place. After the mount dries I would then do my repairs with sculp-all.

I had the same problem..

..a cape was brought to me with 1/2 the upper eyelid missing, along with the lashes. I used a good hidepaste, and after dried (I like to wait a minimum of 2 wks), I rebuilt the lid with epoxie sculpt, and fashioned eyelashes from some extra boar hair I had in the shop. I left them long for ease of placing in the epoxie sculpt, then when it had dried, I trimmed them to size. You can't tell unless you know, and even then you need to look twice. Good luck, and have fun!
