I've read the descriptions in the various catalogs but I'm not sure which one to use. Some say "great for making molds", is that what making a reproduction of a tine to fix a broken one is? After reading so many different product descriptions I got confused. Casting? Molding? I think you have to make a rubber "mold" and then fill it with something to make the actual fake tine. But what is the product called? I think sometimes you can read too much.

When its just one tine, use a release agent on the tine and work with the sikicine to make your mold. Then use any of the casting urethanes to make your repo. demold as it sets up, and you can curve it the way you want it.
Go to the tine opposite of the one broken off and apply mold release. Use hot glue and put subsequent layers of glue on - about 1/4" to 3/8" mold thickness is fine. Pull this mold off, epoxy a piece of wire into the broken area of the rack to act as a support for the new tine. Spray the inside of the hot glue mold with mold release. Turn the rack upside and turn the mold to match the angle needed for the new tine. Mix up some pour-a-cast and pour it into your mold. Hold your mold up against the broken point so that the wire goes down into the pour-a-cast in the mold. In a few minutes you have a replacement tine! The texture will match because it's from the same rack, and you won't be able to tell it's one of the same points.
I've done this numerous times and each time I'm impressed at how easy it is to do.
Good luck.

I do the same as Jerry, but I use latex mould builder, about 4 coats will do for a one time mould.
