When purchasing whitetail manikins, is there a measurement window that you can work in going up or down a size? How much is allowable for a good fit in the eye to nose and neck measurements from the actual measurements of the carcass, if any?
Thanks for the input,
Allen

on the nose to eye measurements you can get away with a 1/4" with no hassle. After that make the form bigger.
As for the neck if it's shaved down properlly you can get an inch bigger. Be careful on getting bigger forms. They have different sweels and that can cause you some major grive if you go bigger than you have.
I have always foung it best to put back exactly what you took out. The skin should fit easily and somewhat loosly on your form. Next time you skin a deer head, put the skin back on the carcass that you just took it off and see how it fits. It will appear that you have a lot of extra skin. If the skin fits snug on a form but not on the real thing, what do you think will happen to the mount? The skin, tanned, dry preserved or what ever will shrink to fit what it is supposed to fit.
Allen I perssonaly never measure any thing but the neck. The eye to nose measurement is not important at all to me.A fter mounting hundreeds of deer ive yet to have a problem in that area.
