I was wondering if a clothes dryer without the heating element would work to dry hides?

While it will help dry bird skins and a one hide at a time it will be fine, but the biggest part of drieing is done without a tumbler. Sure many will claim it works, but it is all rated to the amount of dry sawdust you cam keep in the drum.

YES, it will work. I have used one for 11 years now. It does dry. It works well on all mammals. I also can put more than one hide in one at a time. I have been known to put 2 or 3 deer capes at a time. I have used it from squirrels to moose. Works great. You do have to keep dry sawdust in it. Good Luck, Alan

Yes it does work....only thing I have ever used. I dry one cape at a time and use an old large quilt as a buffer. Works great and no lost sawdust. PS..use it for mammals only.
