skeleton mounting

Could someone provide a complete beginner with a step-by-step guide to preparing and mounting a skeleton (say of a chicken to start with!) for display? If I start with a dead bird, I need to know how to strip the flesh and innards, clean and bleach the bones and re-assemble the bones in a way that will stand up. I live in an urban apartment so I cannot hang the bird out to rot or let the ants eat it or whatever. I presume there is a way of doing it with chemicals. Any advice would be welcomed.
