what is the best way to measure a cape after already having removed the skull?
Mainly the neck measurements.

How fricken hard is it to use the SEARCH BUTTON, UH? OR click on the post on the last week even, hey how about three days ago or even yesterday.
Come on you may be new to taxidermy, but you are not new to the computer or you would not be HERE.
This was posted really recently.
your right it is easy, but many people specifically in the taxidermy industry are not as computer literate as say microsoft employees. The fact is that it is great that this resource is available, and that more and more people are accessing this information. I encourage everyone to continue to remember that not everyone types 50 words per minute, and was has seen a computer during there primary education. So come on fellows have a little heart!
And count to ten .Jay , John and myself have seen this question too many times this week alone .(Deer Season?!)Lay the hide flat, I'm assuming a Y cut was used on this deer . Measure the cape behind the ears and multiply this X 2.ie.. 8" = 16" neck . You can usually add a 1/2 in to this measurement. John... At least he didn't leave out that he had to drive 250 miles to pick it up. HA HA
Good Luck Jay !
dont anwser at all. Last time i remeber i this is a beginners forum.i know you dont have time to answer stupid questions but if you dont have the time dont respond. Come on guys dont let frustration get the best of you. It makes you sound dumb.I am sure he looked around before asking. Why be so cocky?
Try the decaff man! :-)
Yes,this is a beginners forum.I answered Jay's question.John also has a point. This is the simplest of all questions and can be found very easily in ANY taxidermy manual. I come to this forum to help beginners if I can, as does John C.,Bill,Old Fart,Dave, and on and on....The newcomers to this field need only look in their instruction manuals,or Breakthrough manuals .We don't mind helping if someone has trouble understanding something .But measuring a cape, c'mon,Ohio that's about as simple as it gets, and Jay could have found his answer in many places.
HEY JOHN, why do you waste your time even coming to this site? All of your responses of late seem to be nothing but insults and b*&@!# and moaning. I use this site a few times a year so I don't really know if you know anything at all because you never answer any questions. If I had to guess, you probably know a thousand times more about taxidermy than I do, But first impressions are very strong. You replied to my question today about the same subject, guess what, I didn't find the answer in the archives! I found the answer right here on the same day I posted my question. Thank You Mark. John, have you ever looked anything up in the archives before? Try looking in the archives and find the answer that Mark just gave. I don't think you'll find it. But you probably will because you evidentally have alot of time on your hands. Maybe you should start your own personal website where you can pick and choose your members. The last time I checked this was a public forum and people aren't coming here with the intentions of trying to piss you off, But they probably leave here with those intentions. I read one of your rsponses to a question where you challenged that person to come and meet you at the show and get in your face there, it seems to me you like to dish it out but you can't take it when someone starts talking trash back to you. I personally would appreciate it if you never respond to my questions again. Because you are not the type of person I want to associate with.
