I am new at this and at the time I put my deer head in the freezer I didn't know how to skin it or anything. I just cut the neck off and put the head in the freezer without skinning it. My question is, after it thaws, should I put it in an anti-bacterial solution like Basacryl or will it be ok without it? I am planning on using an acid pickle before Liqua Tan, what should be my next step after skinning?

Hello Nate,
After you skin the head out, Split the eyes, nose ,lips and turn the ears inside out.Salt the cape down heavily for 24 hours. Shake off and resalt for another 24 hours. Shake off and hang and allow to air dry. Rehydrate and put into your pickling solution and go from there.
