After rehydrating a tanned hide by soaking and sweating to get it soft,will it stay soft and workable for some time or will it dry back up in a short time?

you leave it out in the air or refridgerate or freeze or if you go straight to mounting....im assuming you plan to go straight to mounting as you stated the hide is already tanned.....it will stay workable for quite some time (days depending on type of tan) and if it does start to dry simply spray water (with a spray bottle)on the flesh side as needed....good luck
