Salt

I was wondering, is it a must to salt before pickeling? and how many days/times should you do it?

Salting

Hello Sony,
Salting is VERY important! DO NOT SKIP!
Salting will do several things. You want to remove the body fluids out of the skin, allowing the skins to be "Thirsty" for the Pickle.Thin about a sponge.Saturated, it will not obsorb because its already reached its carrying capacity!But dry or damp, it will quickly obsorb the fluids. Same with you skins.
Salt will also help set the hair.PLus, Bacteria will attack the salt before the skins.
If you dont want to dry salt, I would salt for 24 hours and shake off. Salt another 24 hours, shake off and then pickle.
But be sure to salt!
