I had a green fox off my trap line, i am new at this taxedermy stuff and am trying to learn the right way to do things. I skinned the fox, and turnned the ears the best i could, i then split they tail and got all the extra meat off of him. i but him on a streatcher and salted him. then i left him overnight and got him today, i scrapped of all the salt and he went from a meet color, to a white color. my question is i know i am supposed to resalt him, but when i scraped off all the old salt i could easily get rid of the meet that was left on him, but as i pulled the meet off, it kinda pulled of a layer of stuff with it. it is like it is a layer of skin that just is covering the whole skin. i pulled it all of and now it looks like a nice skin, but i was wondering if i was supposed to pull of the layer of the skin. it looks really nice now.. can anyone help me. im a lost beginner. i have been reading post on here for months and have learned a ton!
All help would be greatly opreciated!

The layer of "stuff" is membrane.
It comes of even easier after you pickle it.
The hide turns white after it has salt dried...doubt if this happened overnight.
Plenty of info out there as to the next step.
