I have just recieved a bear and I have decided to send it to a tannery. I normally tan my own skins (deer), but I don't have all the right equipment, so I figured that it would be smarter to get it tanned professionally. I am wondering what all has to be done to the skin before it goes to the tannery. I know that I have to turn the nose, ears, eyes, lips, and skin the paws. Then I will take all the meat and fat off. Then should I salt it, or freeze it or what? Thanks for all the help.
Merry Christmas, Andy.

AFTER REMOVING THE MEAT AND FAT....KEEP IN MIND THAT IT TAKES A LITTLE LONGER AND SOMETIMES A FEW MORE SALTINGS TO GET A BEAR TO DRY. UTILIZE A FAN AND MAKE SURE THERE IS PLENTY OF CIRCULATION COMPLETELY AROUND HIDE WHILE DRYING....GOOD LUCK
