Hair slippage

Submitted by James Patrick on 12/26/01. ( ) 209.143.48.200

I have a deer that I just mounted. The hair will pull out pretty easy especially around the brisket area. Will the hair set tight after the mount is fully dry or is there something that I can do right away? Thank You.

James, You didn't tell us, but I strongly suspect you used DP on your deer. If so, this is perfectly normal. (If it was tanned, you've got big problems.) DP hides usually take two weeks or more to lock the hair in around the brisket areas.

George is right. With DP this is normal.
If tanned, the problem could also be the fact that you may have overloaded your Hide Past (If water based). It can slowley sag and worke its way down and rest in inn the brisket/arm pit area thus creating bacteria to develope.
If so, I would run a fan on your mount 24/7 for several days.It may be the ticket for you.
I hope it all works out for ya!

Have a good day to all,
Dave
