I finally proved all of them wrong!

My freshman year of highschool, I was forced to take a certain class due to not registering for my classes early enough. All my friends and some family members laughed at me and said I would never use anything I learned in this class. I took alot of ragging from my football buddies, but I just responded that they were just jealous. Today I prepped my first deer cape for mounting. I made ALOT of mistakes that had to be fixed by sewing them. See, the class I had to take was HOME ECONOMICS, which taght me to sew. So I finally used something that I learned in that class, besides overcoming some shyness around the females, that also proved to be VERY helpfull down the line.LOL.

Way back when or day in the day, 1972 to be exact, several of the Agri stundets, i.e. shop, welding, electricity wood working were ask if they wanted to take home ec. for 12 weeks, I looked around and saw there were no girls in this class, HOME EC. was where the girls were, so up went my hand! All the guys laughed, but I stood my ground, alternatve motives, was my whole goal.

I did learn to sew, run a sewing machine and cook plan a household budget. All of which will help anyone. Once the guys figured out why I was in the Home Ec. class they wanted to be there with me.

home economics in high school also, for the same reasons: i wanted to be in a classroom full of girls, well so did a lot of other guys.
guess what ? i guess the school administration saw what was happening and they put 27 guys and 3 girls in the home econ. class, what a bummer.
but i did meet a very nice girl and all three of them were very kind in helping us guys learn how to sew, cook etc..
it was a blast and one of the best years i ever had in school.

Michael,
You must be old too. Today's PC academics claim teachers can't effectively teach over 15 kids to a classroom. Wonder how I ever graduated. Then there are guys like Neil Armstrong, Jonas Salk, Ted Turner, Michael Forbes, et al. Wonder what this "new" generation will have to boast in their graduates.
