skinning muskrat

I am wanting to mount a muskrat.I tried to skin one for mounting the other day and had alot of problems with the back feet trying to invert to the toes.The skin ripped when I tried to skin where the fur met the foot skin.Is there another way to do this ?Am I doing something wrong?The skin is very thin on this animal.Please help any help would be appreciated.THANKS

I would suggest you split the back feet and peel it over the toes. Being it's the bottom of the foot just sew and place on your habitat. But if they show use some sculpt-all etc and cover the seam with this.
