Holes

HEllo Charlene,
You'll probably encounter this more times than not.
Simply cut the holes out using the football cut....sort of like this () being sure to follow the hair pattern. This will reduce puckering as well as disposing of the cut hair from the Bullet or Broadhead.
A nice tight stitch will take care of it.

Take care and have a great day,
Dave

Fix the Holes

I have found that seewing holes causes the skin to pucker when it dries. I like to mount the head as usual then apply a "VERY GOOD" hide glue to the area and pin the edges of the shin together with insect pins and your set.

Puckered skin

If done properlly your skin should not pucker but crap happens and it does. To cure this while it dries is to take a blunt edge and tap the seam down.

If you pin it in, it will cause you trouble in the future. I have seen this down with other mounts and now a few years later you can see where the taxidermist placed every pin. Best off to sew. But if you refuse to sew then the best hide paste for this is epo-grip.
