With the skin on you can get the nose to eye measurements and any other you may want as the measurements from the nose to brow tine and to the tip. This is for your reference not ordering.
Now most catologs measure the meat of the animal or they measure the inside of a cape. You won't see them measure the hair side. The reason being is that depending on the time of the year the thickness of the hair is quite different. You can wrap a tape around the hair side but you will also need to subtract an inch or two for a correct measurement.
Just follow the manufacture's way of measuring their manikins and you will do just fine.

Good luck, Mark
Always take length measurements with the skin on.
Always take circumference measurements with the skin off.
Thanks for the great taxidermy reference site tip--I'm just getting into taxidermy (mounting my first squirrel) so I need all the help I can get. Thanks for sharing the 411.
