Salting hides with "y" cut.

I was wondering if someone could help me in the salting of a cape with the "y" cut. After fleshing the meat off and turning the ears, lips, and eyes, do you turn the cape insideout to salt it and leave it that way? Or should you turn it back after you salt it so that the hair is back on the outside? Do you hang it to drip out or do you just sit it on an incline? Do you roll it up when it is to drip out or lay it flat? Thanks in advance or your help with these question.

with hair on the inside, putting the hide or cape at an angle with the head at the high end so that it can drain. Hang up to dry after salting twice.

how long

How long should you let hang to dry after it has been salted for the second time? Should I just let it dry long enough to become stiff but not to hard that it cannot be shipped to tanner?

Bryant if your shipping it to the tannery just make sure you can box it to fit as small of box as possible to save on shipping costs.
